In Ernest Hemmingway’s novel “The Sun Also Rises”, two men have the following interchange regarding the financial calamity that has befallen one of them:

“How did you go bankrupt?” Bill asked.

“Two ways….” Mike said. “Gradually, then suddenly.”

PRAISE, PROPERLY UNDERSTOOD
