“Our finest moments are most likely to occur when we are feeling deeply uncomfortable, unhappy, or unfulfilled. For it is only in such moments, propelled by our discomfort, that we are likely to step out of our ruts and start searching for different ways or truer answers.”
Scott Peck

Which “Vert” are you?
We tend to categorize people as extroverted (get your energy in group settings) or introvert (get your energy in private settings). But, strictly speaking, you may be neither. It may be that you’re an ambivert; which has some definite implications for your performance in a number of areas, especially persuasion (i.e. selling). Find out which you are with this quick test from Forbes “9 Signs That You’re an Ambivert”
An Unambiguous Future
Dr. Peter Drucker once advised that “Of all external changes, demographics…are the clearest. They are unambiguous. They have the most predictable consequences. They have a major impact on what will be bought, by whom, and in what quantities.” Want some insights into the “future that has already happened.” Check out these six charts for the big picture on demographics and share with your team.
The Interpreted Interview
If someone in your life is about to go after that first job, interviewing skills are important. It’s important that what the applicant is sure that what he or she said is what the interviewer is actually hearing. This fun video from Fast Company shares “some cringe-inducing reminders that what you say is not always what other people hear.”

Next on the Ash Heap: Ronald Reagan predicted that the Soviet Union would be “consigned to the Ash Heap of History”; and so it was, at no little cost in blood and treasure and with more than a little resolve by the US and its allies.
But as economist Brian Wesbury reminds us that as long as tyranny exists, there will always be another candidate for the Ash Heap. Find out who, or what, he thinks it is, and how this time it wasn’t statesmen but engineers who are playing the leading role in showing the tyrant to the ash heap.
Millennial on Millennials: Articles on Millennials, usually written by boomers in the workplace, appear with some frequency in this space. In the interest of equal time I’d like to suggest you take an hour or so to for some comments by a rising young Millennial Economist at ITR Economics, Connor Lokkar.
On May 12, Mr Lokkar will present “Trading Places: How Baby Boomers exiting the workforce as Millennials enter will impact your business today & tomorrow.“ (There is nominal charge for this webinar. Order a pizza and get your hiring team together for this one.)
